Temperature and settling
Air pressure and perceived firmness can change as the mattress and room cool. Initial material stretching can also affect firmness; consult the model instructions about topping up.
Check the valve
Make sure the valve or pump dial is in the position specified for sleeping. Inspect for dirt or an improperly seated cap, without dismantling electric components.
Look for a leak safely
Follow the manufacturer’s approved leak-check procedure. Keep electrical pump components away from water and never immerse an electric mattress or pump.
Repair or warranty
Use only the manufacturer-approved repair method and check warranty and return terms before applying a patch. A mattress that repeatedly deflates may need service or replacement.
First separate normal changes from a leak
Some initial softening can occur as a new mattress's material stretches. Temperature changes also affect internal air pressure; a mattress may feel softer in a cooler room. Neither observation proves a puncture. Follow the manufacturer's initial inflation and top-up instructions and compare firmness under similar room conditions.
If the bed repeatedly becomes substantially softer under comparable conditions, inspect it systematically rather than repeatedly overinflating it.
A practical inspection sequence
- Check that the valve and any pump controls are fully closed as instructed.
- Inspect the surface and seams for visible damage, especially where the bed contacts the floor.
- Inflate to the recommended level and listen near the valve and seams in a quiet room.
- Use a leak-detection method only if the manufacturer permits it, keeping moisture away from electrical components.
- Mark a confirmed leak without damaging the surface and consult the approved repair instructions.
Do not assume every leak is patchable. Damage at a seam, valve or pump assembly may require manufacturer support or replacement.
What to do before the next night
Move the bed away from sharp objects and protect the floor according to the manufacturer's instructions.
