After use
Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions. Let the surface dry completely before folding; storing damp bedding or a damp mattress can create odor problems.
Deflate and fold
Use the specified deflation method and avoid forcing air out by sharply creasing material. Keep the valve and any built-in pump components protected.
Choose a storage spot
Store away from sharp objects, excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep accessories together so the pump or repair kit is easy to find.
Before the next guest
Inspect seams and valves, test inflation ahead of time and check the manufacturer’s guidance if you notice unexpected air loss.
A repeatable cleaning routine
Remove sheets and inspect the mattress for debris before wiping it down. Use only cleaning products approved by the maker; test any permitted cleaner on an inconspicuous area first. Pay attention to flocked surfaces, seams and the area around the valve, where moisture can be difficult to spot. Never immerse an electric pump or allow water into its housing.
After wiping, leave the mattress inflated in a ventilated room until every surface is dry. A dry exterior does not guarantee that a wet seam or fold has dried. If a spill reached the pump, unplug it and follow the manufacturer's instructions rather than switching it on to test it.
Packing without damage
Unplug an electric model before deflating it. Use the designated deflate setting or valve, let air escape gradually, and fold along the maker's recommended lines rather than pressing a sharp crease through a pump housing. Keep the power cord loose and avoid placing a heavy object on the folded mattress.
Store the mattress in its bag or a clean breathable container in a dry, temperature-stable area. Keep it away from tools, pets' claws and items with exposed fasteners. Check it a few days before the next visit so a problem is not discovered at bedtime.
When cleaning is not enough
If you notice a persistent odor, visible mold, damaged wiring or a leaking seam, consult the manufacturer's care and repair guidance. A patch kit intended for one material or location may not be suitable for another. Do not attempt electrical repairs to an integrated pump.
